@KangaKucha Did you know the Koch’s are running the tea party to pull republicans further right and the DLC to pull democrats further right into corporatist territory?
The Kochs are literally the beast with 2 heads.
The DLC screws progressives in favor of corporations, they love the alan simpson deficit bullshit.
Hopefully someone kills the kochs so they lose control of the debate and the country gets a chance to fix itself.

@dagorian86 2 trillion in national debt, not deficit. My wife confuses these two all the time).
I’d advise you to stop arguing with monetarists/reaganites, it’s a waste of time, just like trying to convert Limbaugh into Islam. Unless you’re having fun, of course).

As an OWL member and a “boomer” that has paid 25 to 35 % of all my income into SSA, Simpson’s offensive teat/milk comment is more than just that, it’s a threat of robbery. Sort of “Where’s your purse bitch?” as he busts into my home.
Obama has to get him and the rest of the “Debt Commission” disappeared. NOW! Maybe I’ll rethink rejoining the Dem Party, contributing in the future.

@genie0390 – google for full article – “An Autopsy of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac” 1. Fannie and Freddie did not cause the housing bubble. In fact, you can think of the bubble as all the money that poured into the housing market on top of their regular and continuing contributions. The market share of the two government-sponsored companies plunged after 2003, and did not recover until 2008. In 2006, at the peak of the mania, the companies subsidized only one-third of the mortgage market.

@dagorian86
tax cuts are not expenditures, reductions in revenue were more than offset by increased economic activity thus higher taxes collected.
you don’t know how Congress operates! It can write Bills which can be vetoed by the President but can be over ridden with enough votes
in Reagan’s case Congress could have stopped his spending but didn’t
Progressives/liberals simply never ever want to accept rightful blame for the crap they produce
August 30th, 2010 at 7:28 am
@genie0390 in that case enlighten me, how did reagan pay for his massive tax cuts and defeense spending??? Social security was an easy targtet. i do know he left office with a 2 trillion dollar deficit… funny how conservatives never complain about that. congress approves or disaproves a budget summitted by the president, not the other way around, you know this. Reagan asked for massive spending and congress agreed. which one is more to blame?

@NShutterbug
The one Bill coming to mind is Carter’s CRA (Community Reinvestment Act), picked up and enhanced by Clinton who in 1998 proceeded to mandate Fannie Mae to force bankers to stop redlining poor communities in America. Bankers were forced to loosen lending rules which produced subprime mortgages which resulted in the housing bubble and final meltdown.
Fannie and Freddie have a blank check to rescue mortgages, which together with the economic disaster will cost more than 10 trillion

@genie0390 – after 2000, the Reps held the house, senate, presidency the surplus changed to a deficit. After 2006, the Reps blocked as much as they could to prevent the Dems from doing anything. Please point to specific bills that the Dems passed to increase the deficit. It was the two wars and the Bush tax cuts that created the deficit. “CBO Data Show Tax Cuts Have Played Much Larger Role than Domestic Spending Increases in Fueling the Deficit ” Google it! Talk about not knowing f#$%.

@dagorian86
sorry to say you know fuck all. When Reagan took over from the 1 term wonder Carter,interest rates were 22%, unemployment was 14% and rising, the military was in shreds following Viet Nam war started by the Dem JFK and LBJ. Reagan had a lot of rebuilding to do
You do know that Congress controls every penny of spending and that for the last 60-70 yrs the Dems were in control. Out of the 12 yrs of GOP control, 6 yrs involved the economy going through the dot com boom, no deficits

Gotta love Bob’s shiny head. Amazing guy!
August 30th, 2010 at 7:28 am
his last name may be “simpson”, but it’s one of those taken names. this man could NOT HAVE BEEN BORN IN THE US or educated here.
just more dual-citizenship citizens who became citizens by taking the test and now have posts in US government offices.
the most uneducated illiterate american schmuck understands that collecting social security is COLLECTING YOUR OWN(!) MONEY from the years you worked.
anyone who doesnt know this simplest of facts is not really an american.

They censor the word TIT on TV????? WTF
August 30th, 2010 at 7:28 am
@KangaKucha I hope he’s removed from the face of the earth.
August 30th, 2010 at 7:28 am
@willia3r I swear to god if Ayn Rand Paul gets into office he’ll put a bill up about the sanctity of private property and making government interference illegal
Then Rahm Obomber would try to get Ayn Rand Pauls non committal semi half whispered non promise to vote on a study to see the viability of making a cosmetic credit card fix by using an executive order to make it impossible for the government to interfere in private business transactions including segregation, slavery and sex slavery.

@Kougeki1000 No your not.
August 30th, 2010 at 7:28 am
Sounds like Alan Simpson is confusing Social Security with Welfare or Unemployment. I’m not defending him because if he isn’t confusing these, then he’s a greedy asswipe. If I’m right, then he’s an ignorant piece of shit and shouldn’t be in office.
